Examining What Others Teach About Jesus

Alternative Teachings
About Jesus Christ

Comparing what various religious systems teach about Jesus Christ
with what the Bible actually says.

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

1 John 4:1

Who Jesus is, what He taught, and what He accomplished are not matters of personal opinion or evolving tradition. God has revealed His Son plainly and sufficiently in the Bible.

Throughout history, many religious systems have introduced alternative teachings about Jesus Christ. Some add writings outside the Bible. Others redefine His nature, diminish His deity, alter His gospel, or place human authority alongside or above the word of God. These teachings may sound spiritual, moral, or sincere, yet sincerity does not determine truth.

This section exists to examine those alternative teachings in the light of the Bible. Our goal is not to mock, misrepresent, or attack individuals. Our concern is the truth, which we believe matters because eternity matters.

The Bible warns that false christs and another gospel will arise. The Bible also commands believers to test every teaching and to hold fast to what is true. We take those warnings seriously and seek to measure every claim about Jesus Christ against the Bible. If Jesus is not who the Bible says He is, then salvation itself is at stake. For that reason, we lovingly compare the teachings of Mormonism, Islam, Catholicism, and other systems, allowing the Bible to speak for itself.

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

— Galatians 1:8

A note on our approach: We do not seek to mock, misrepresent, or attack individuals who hold these beliefs. Many sincere people follow these teachings without having examined them against the Bible. Our only standard of truth is the word of God, and our only motivation is love for the truth and for the souls of men and women who may be trusting in a system or religion rather than in the Saviour.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

— John 14:6

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

— Acts 4:12
